Asbestos Abatement Contractor

$275.00

Abatement and disposal of asbestos-containing construction materials

Description

An asbestos abatement contractors license allows a contractor to perform abatement, including containment, encapsulation, or removal, and disposal of asbestos-containing construction materials, as defined in Section 6501.8 of the Labor Code, in and on buildings and structures.

All work performed and all documentation prepared by an asbestos abatement contractor shall be done in accordance with regulations and requirements of the Department of Industrial Relations’ Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).

The C-22 Asbestos Abatement contractor classification operates as a stand-alone specialty contractor classification for asbestos abatement work, regardless of any other classification(s) that may be held by the licensed contractor, and functions within the scope of the contractor’s DOSH registration.

Before you can apply for your asbestos abatement contractors license, you must meet the following experience requirements:

  • 4 years of experience performing/supervising asbestos abatement (C-22) work.
  • Valid SSN or ITIN
  • Be at least 18 years old*

Don’t have 4 years of asbestos abatement experience?
A college degree can be substituted for up to three years of that experience.

The State will accept self-employed experience.

In order to obtain your asbestos abatement contractors license, you are required to pass the Trade examination as well as the Law & Business exam.

*Even though you can apply for an asbestos abatement contractors license when you are 18 years old, it is recommended that you be at least 23 years old due to experience requirement.
